  1. FORGOTIT.EXE is a small Windows 95 desktop utility which is used in the same way
  2. the original trademark "Post It".  It offers up to four sets of notepads, each with
  3. up to ten pages
  4.  
  5. Forgot-It is useful for keeping notes and reminders on your Windows 95 desktop,
  6. rather than on hard to find little pieces of paper.
  7.  
  8. Forgot-It is shareware.  The price is U.S.$15
  9.

  12. To install Forgot-It, simply unzip FORGOTIT.ZIP in a directory (Be care to not create a directory 
  13. of more than 8 letters).
  14. Then right-click on INSTALUS.INF and select Install....
  15.  
  16. You can also uninstall Forgot-It in the standard way...
  17. (ControlPanel/Application/Remove)

  23. A little yellow icon is placed on the Taskbar when Forgot-It is launched.
  24. Subsequent notepads are added to the taskbar as similar icons, but using 
  25. green, blue and red icons.  The pads can be used for different subjects or
  26. by different users.

  28. Click the LEFT mouse button on the yellow Forgot-It Taskbar icon to open the
  29. Forgot-It window.
  30. Clicking the RIGHT mouse button on the Forgot-It Taskbar icon will open
  31. a configuration menu.

  36. The following Shortcut Keys will function in the open Forgot-It window :
  37.  
  38. ESC : Minimize the Forgot-It Window to the Task bar icon
  39. F2  : Save NOW the contents of Forgot-It. (Default is saved when closing Forgot-It)
  40. Alt-F4 or Alt-X : Exit Forgot-It
  41. Ctrl-A : Select All
  42. Alt-F  : Select default Font.
  43. Alt-L  : load an external file, and put it at the cursor.
  44. Alt-S  : save the note to an external file
  45. Ctrl-D : Date in short format
  46. Alt-D  : Date in long format
  47. Ctrl-T : Time
  48. F1 : Help
  49. F2 : Save now!

  53. When open, each Forgot-It window can cycle through 10 different pages.
  54. Click on the left and right arrows next to the page number to cycle
  55. through the pages.  You can also click on the page number to pull down
  56. menu of pages

  58. You can open up to 4 different Forgot-It windows.  Right click on the task bar
  59. icon, then select 'New' to open each additional Forgot-it window.

  63. Forgot-It will allow you to set alarms. To set an alarm, insert, in the note,
  64. the DATE that you want the alarm to activate, as follows:
  65.  
  66. @01/12/96 (European format)
  67. or
  68. @12.01.96 (U.S.A. format)
  69.  
  70. The note will appear with an alert box when the day is reached. (The examples
  71. above will generate an alarm on December 1, 1996.)
  72. Then Forgot-It will replace the '@' symbol with the '#' symbol indicating
  73. that the date for the alarm has passed.

  75. When the alarm occurs, an alert box is displayed, with the text following the alarm.
  76. i.e @01/12/96 Essai d'alarme (Using the European date format)
  77.  
  78. To set a specific time for the alarm, you must follow the alarm date immediately by
  79. the alarm time as -HH:MM (hours and minutes in 24 hour clock format).  For example 
  80. '-13:01' will make alarm occur at 13hours 01 mins...

  82. Example :
  83. @12.01.96-14:30 will alarm on the First December 96, at 14h30 (2:30pm)

  88. If you don't want the Forgot-It icon to appear on the Taskbar when the
  89. Forgot-It Window is open, you can remove it.
  90. To do this, edit POSTIT.INI (in the Windows directory), and add the
  91. following line in the [Post-It] section:

  95. When you restart Forgot-It, the Forgot-It Icon will not appear in the Taskbar,
  96. and the menu bar on the open Forgot-It window will be a little smaller.

  100. About color selection :
  101.  
  102. Windows doesn't enable all colors for the Edit-Windows...Only non-dithered colors
  103. can be used for Edit-Windows whether you are in 16colors or 256colors mode.
  104. If you select a bad color for Forgot-It, you will get 2 background colors in the
  105. edit window: one where text appears, and another where there is only background...
  106. (Difficult to explain : Try by yourself...  Right click on the taskbar icon then select
  107. 'Colors')

  109. You can only select one color scheme for the notepads.  You can't select 
  110. different colors for each of the notepads, if you use more than one.  However, Each is
  111. color-coded by its task bar icon color and a corresponding colored square at the top
  112. left of its window.
